The Mecca Bingo Club in Glasgow Quay is celebrating after having their second National Game winner in less than two weeks. Both players live in the Govan area and won £56,195 between them.
The most recent win took place on the afternoon of Saturday, 14 June when a 61 year-old retired woman was playing her usual weekly game of bingo at the club with her mother.
She won the National Bingo Game prize of £26,260, plus the Regional prize of £2,243 and the house prize of £150 after completing a full house in 41 numbers, the lowest call out of the 470 clubs playing nationwide.
“I was in shock, complete shock, and I couldn’t take it in at all,” she said. “I don’t think it will really sink in until the cheque is in my hand.”
The woman, who is married, has been playing bingo for 40 years and has been a member of the Mecca Quay since it opened. She intends to treat her family and friends with the money, but first she is sticking to an agreement she made by sharing it 50/50 with her mum.
Lady Luck struck for the first time on the evening of Monday, 2 June when a woman won more than £27,545 in 40 calls.
