A UK bingo lover has scooped more than £45,000 after claiming the bingo  jackpot.

The lucky player was the UK’s first winner of Gala Bingo’s new High 5 game on Monday night, where players can win further money if they call ‘house’ on the number five or numbers ending in five.

The winners then win a share of the game’s cumulative bingo jackpot.

The anonymous player from the city was surprised by the win, as at first she thought she had only won £4,295. But it was later revealed she had won £45,598 on after calling house on number 85.

UK Bingo Coventry Savoy club manager Brian Round said: “We’re delighted to have announced the first ever High 5 winner in our club. “The way the game works is very simple; if ‘house’ is called on number five, players can claim 50 per cent of the rollover jackpot, while the remaining 50 per cent is shared by all the other players at the club.”
